With Dr. Judy Shell, cancer patients and their families in the Kissimmee area have had an important resource for emotional healing since 1999. She helps people understand how to “make a place for cancer and put cancer in its place.” Dr. Shell is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose background includes extensive work in oncology – both as a counselor and as a Registered Nurse.

Dr. Shell graduated from the Grace Hospital School of Nursing with a diploma in nursing augmented with a BA and MS in Nursing Education from the University of Detroit She also complete a B.S. in Nursing at the University of Kansas. She then attained the highly respected Oncology Nursing Certification and Advanced Oncology Nursing Certification. Her work in Marriage and Family Therapy has been conducted at Michigan State University where she earned her MA and Doctorate. She completed her Internship in Marriage and Family Therapy at the Northwest Cancer Resource Center, Seattle Washington.

Dr. Shell is licensed by the State of Florida to practice Marriage and Family Therapy. She is also licensed as a Register Nurse in Michigan, Missouri, Washington, and Florida.

Deeply committed to spreading information and understanding about cancer and its effects, Dr. Shell has made presentations to various professional and community groups throughout the country. Among the topics she has discussed include: “Alterations in Body Image,” “Sexuality Issues and the Person with Cancer,” ”Reawakening Our Commitment to Caring,” “Women and Cancer,” “How to Talk to the Person with Cancer,” and “Pain Management for the Cancer Patient.”
